Protecting the Natural World
As part of De Beers, we continually work to protect nature and the wildlife it supports through our conservation network in southern Africa. Inspired by nature from the very start, De Beers Group safeguards double the amount of land we use for our operations, dedicating it to the conservation of flora and fauna in the region. We are progressing towards our goal to become carbon neutral by 2030 by reducing, replacing, and recovering emissions, as well as by minimising our water footprint across our operations, offices, and stores.

De Beers Group works tirelessly to advance industry standards and drive greater confidence in natural diamonds. Through their Best Practice Principles, it has set the industry’s strictest health, safety, labour, and environmental standards, which ensure that all our diamonds are conflict-free as well as responsibly and ethically sourced. It is also developing pioneering digital sourcing and traceability solutions through Tracr, which enables participants to provide a secure and immutable record of a natural diamond’s journey from its source.

De Beers continues to support community resilience, providing world class healthcare to our employees and local communities around our operations, as well as high quality, future focused education through the schools they manage and support. It also creates livelihood opportunities through entrepreneur development programmes for youth, women, and established business owners in southern Africa.
Accelerating Equal Opportunities
De Beers Group continues to strive for equal opportunity for all, for a more inclusive workforce, and for attaining gender parity. In partnership with UN Women and local partners, we continue to support women micro-entrepreneurs in building their business while engaging girls in STEM, with a goal of helping 10,000 women by 2030, and 10,000 girls into STEM. Together with our parent company, we work to increase diversity in the jewellery sector, providing opportunities for young and aspiring designers from our partner countries to showcase their talents and win design scholarships.
